Our Spirit Won’t Be Burned…

16 E. Main St is more than an address.

It is a cherished destination that holds 90 years of history and memories for the people and non-profits of our community.  On Tuesday evening, at roughly 5:00 pm, all of our memories could have been destroyed forever if it had not been for the quick action of first responders to the scene as a two-alarm fire erupted. Local resident Eric Tieniber reported the fire and notified the staff and occupants to evacuate the building.

Within an hour, Moorestown Fire Department, along with their mutual aid companies from the surrounding townships arrived on the scene, contained and ultimately stopped the fire.  Fortunately, no one was hurt and all who were in the building were able to exit without incident.

“There are still unknowns with respect to the cause of the fire and the extent of the damage. We are working closely with our insurance company and a clean up crew to get our beloved building back up and operating quickly,” states George Schulmann, Board President.

Brad Kenney, Executive Director of the Community House adds, “The outpouring of support has been immeasurable. From venues offering space for our event clients, to local businesses offering space for our non-profit users and tenants to house their offices, to the township and individuals extending assistance and resources, we truly thank you!”

Kenny went on to say, “We have been here for 90 years to help the people of this community and it is very moving to experience, first hand, the willingness of all who want to support us. There are no words to express our gratitude for all of you!”

We are pleased to announce that our spirit will not be burned. The 3rd Annual Tree Lighting Celebration will occur, as planned, on Monday, December 7 @ 5:30 pm on the front lawn. We hope to see all of you there!
