Founders Day 2026

April 18 @ 11:00 am - 1:00 pm

The Community House officially opened its doors on Sunday, April 11, 1926. Over the course of a six-day celebration, more than 2,000 attendees gathered to mark the occasion, including New Jersey dignitaries ranging from the Governor’s Office to local officials, as reported in the Camden Courier on Monday, April 12, 1926.

The festivities began at 3:00 p.m. with an organ recital and choral performance, followed by the formal Presentation of the Building and a keynote address titled “The Law of Work and the Gospel of Recreation,” delivered by Dr. J. Duncan Spaeth, Professor of English at Princeton University.

Throughout the week, the celebration continued with a Tea in honor of Mrs. Eldridge Johnson, Community Player Night, a performance by the Moorestown Orchestra, a Teenage Tea, social games and dancing, boys’ and girls’ gymnasium and pool events, and even a wrestling exhibition by the University of Pennsylvania wrestling team.

To commemorate the Building Dedication and recreate the excitement of that historic week, we invite you to join us on Saturday, April 18, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. for Founder’s Day.

It’s also Daffodil Day! Come for the art and artists and celebrate the Community House Building Dedication Anniversary!
